About the Author
D. K. POTTER is a self-published author hailing from the majestic mountainous landscapes of central Colorado, where she lives with her husband, their two children, and two cats (who arguably get into more trouble than the kids). Her published works of fiction include Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Red Right Hand, Sherlock Holmes and the Face in the Gray Looking Glass, and a collection of short stories entitled Strange Country. She is a graduate of the Art Institute of Colorado with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design.
I've wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember.
What started as self-illustrated kids' books written on notebook paper and held together with yarn, and grade school plays cast with my classmates and performed for our parents has grown into a passion for poetry, fantasy, mystery, and horror. (As well as a few Bible studies for good measure.)
As a homeschooling mother of two, most of my writing occurs in the late hours of the evening, although sometimes I do manage to escape to the local coffee shop to sip a latté while weaving words, penning plots, and telling tales. Whether I’m delving into fantastical worlds of magic and myth, dystopian civilizations and alien planets, enigmatic clues and shadowy suspense, vivid verse and lyrical melodies, or malevolent monsters and the depths of human darkness, each story is meant to open the door of imagination for readers seeking to escape the confines of reality, and each poem is crafted to touch on the deepest struggles, yearnings, and hopes of the human soul.
My work is largely influenced by such authors as H. P. Lovecraft, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Edgar Allan Poe, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Stephen King, and Neil Gaiman, though I am always reading and falling in love with new books and the authors who write them. I hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I enjoyed writing them.
Happy reading.
