The Valley
The shadows loom long, tenebrous and cold,
You break ‘neath the weight of burdens untold,
The darkness grows restless, bloodthirsty and bold,
Here in Death’s Shadow Valley.
Demons here frolic like God sees them not,
Sorrow and suffering seem but your lot,
The sword pierces even the bravest who’ve fought,
Here in Death’s Shadow Valley.
The night waxes strong in a merciless sky,
You dread more to live than you fear e’en to die,
The air here seems glutted with anguishing cries,
Here in Death’s Shadow Valley.
Tho’ Satan should buffet, torment and affright,
The blacker the shadow the brighter the light,
And one day thy faith shall be turned into sight,
At the end of Death’s Shadow Valley.
So strengthen thy knees and lift up thy face,
Lean on thy brother and rest in thy faith,
For none of thy suffering shall go to waste,
Here in Death’s Shadow Valley.
Thy King doth await with a loving embrace
At the end of Death’s Shadow Valley.
